Our Mission (our fundamental purpose for being)
To promote the well-being and safety of the residents of South Eglinton by identifying and making presentations on local issues to the Toronto Civic governments and appropriate regulatory and other bodies and assisting residents in dealing with local issues.
Operating Principles
SERRA will give priority to the issues which are of general concern to all or a great many residents such as maintenance of satisfactory standards of municipal services, planning, impact of major developments, traffic, etc. and to the special interests of homeowners such as residential property taxation.
On issues involving a more limited number of residents, SERRA will provide referral assistance.
- SERRA will, if requested, support but not duplicate the work of other organizations such as home and school, tenants' and business owners' associations which represent their members in respect of their special interests.
- SERRA will act in an informed manner and make itself aware of residents' views on current issues by providing opportunities for residents to voice their opinions through meetings, websites, etc.
Values (how we deal with others and ourselves)
We are:
- Pro-active: We try to anticipate problems and issues and get on top of them as soon as possible.
- Transparent in our dealings with the community and our members. We have no secrets and no hidden agendas.
- Respectful of the community and attempt to gauge the opinion of the community when developing our positions and actions.
- Fair in dealing with our members and directors, we recognize effort and strive for an equitable distribution of responsibility.
